Christmas Day Feasts

If you don't want to cook this Christmas Day, you don't need to!

Start out with breakfast at the Altoona VFW Breakfast 9AM to Noon. All you can eat $7/adults and $4/kids. Share your meal with local Veterans!

Around noon time head to Culvers for their Christmas Day Lunch from 11:30AM to 1:30PM. Enjoy chicken, fries, cole slaw, roll, drink and Culver's frozen custard! All are welcome. Suggested donation $5, proceeds go to the Salvation Army and Hope Gospel Mission.

Christmastime in the City

Saturday December 3rd Christmastime in the City begins in Downtown Eau Claire. Be sure to join in the fun.

There will be Lunch with Santa in the Greenbriar Room of the Ramada Inn Convention Center. Cost is is $5/person under 18 months/free; this includes pizza, drink, a visit with Santa, and cookie decorating with the Boys and Girls Club members, crafts hosted by Macaroni Kid, and the Swan Lake Ballet Students will perform.  Bring your cameras!

The L.E. Phillips Public Library will have "Make and Take" crafts from 1PM-4PM

Relax on a free horse drawn wagon ride from 1PM-4PM, starting from the corner of Barstow Street and Grand Avenue, then enjoy hot chocolate, cider from Infinitea, treats from Parkside Pie and Ice Cream, and a fire to warm up with in the Four Corners Parking Lot.

At 4PM the Eau Claire Memorial Madrigals will sing carols around the Christmas tree in the Four Corners Parking Lot.  Following will be a dance by the Swan Lake Ballet at 4:20PM.

And the main event - the Christmas Tree Lighting - will take place at 4:30PM

If Your Not Hunting This Weekend...

Just in case you won't be in the woods this weekend for the opening of Whitetail Deer Gun Season, or maybe if you're taking a break from the cold, here are a few fun thing to do in Eau Claire.

Down to Earth Garden Center is having Deer Hunters Widow’s Weekend  November 19th and 20th with classes going on all weekend, free Hors d’oeuvres and samples, plus great specials on all Christmas items. 

The Annual Water Street Block Party is November 17th-19th with lots of shopping, food, and fun.

The Art of Woodturning

The Third Annual Wisconsin Woodturners Exposition will bring the best of the area out to show off their skills and raise some money for charity.

This event will be held November 5th 9AM-6PM and November 6th 9AM-5PM at the Plaza Hotel and Suites in Eau Claire. A Silent Auction will be held for supporting the youth outreach and a portion of the proceeds will go to Feed My People.

Enjoy professional demonstrations by Dick Sing, Jamie Donaldson, Jim Anderson, Wade Wendorf, Greg Haugen, Jarrod Stone, Ben Manor and Klaus Zunker. There will be many exhibits and vendors, and a Fiber Arts section.

Big Band Music

If you enjoy the sounds of Glenn Miller, George Gershwin, Benny Goodman and Count Basie, head to the Grantner Concert Hall at UW-Eau Claire.

12th Annual ClearWater Beer Festival

This Saturday head over to Hobbs Sports Center in Altoona for the ClearWater Beer Festival!

Sample great beers by dozens of brewers from 3PM to 7PM.  Designated drivers get in free.  You must be 21 to attend, so bring your ID.  Tickets are $25.00/advance or $30.00/at the door.  Proceeds benefit the Altoona Rink Improvement Fund.

Water Street Mile

12th Annual Water Street Mile is Saturday July 9th on Water Street, downtown Eau Claire. The Water Street Mile is a one-mile "all comers" race with 13 race divisions.

Register on site from 7AM to 8:30AM at Menomonie Street Dental. Race begins at 9AM.

Triathlon and Picnic

Are you up for a 2.5 mile walk/run followed by a 1 mile paddle then an 8 mile bike ride?

Whether you're ready to go, or just sit and watch, you can still enjoy the Lake Eau Claire Clear Water Triathlon and Picnic Saturday June 11th at C & G Hide Away Bar and Pavilion.

You can pre-register for the triathlon or register at the event from 1PM-2:15PM. This is a non-timed event and a fundraiser for water quality improvement.

Snacks will be available, and there will be music and a chicken dinner at 4PM.

Family Fun Weekend Events

Spend time enjoying events with the kids this weekend!

Friday May 13th is the Second Annual Fairytale Ball 6PM to 9PM at the Florian Gardens. Come dressed as your favorite fairy tale character and enjoy games, carriage rides, magic and more. Tickets are $18/Adults $8/Children $50/family of four ($5 additional child). Proceeds go to the Theatre Guild's Theatre Education classes.

Then don't miss the Doll and Pet Parade on Water Street Saturday May 14th. Registration will start at 11AM at the Holiday Gas Station. Parade will begin at 1PM. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Now in their 10th year Wisconsin's Premier Anime Convention, No Brand Con, will be this weekend April 15th to 17th at the Plaza Hotel and Suites in Eau Claire.

Special Guests include anime voice actors Colleen Clinkenbeard and Monica Rial, the Brawl in the Family web comic creators, and YouTube fan favorites Brent Black aka brentalfloss and movie reviewers Jay Bauman and Mike Stoklasa from independent movie company Red Letter Media.

44th Annual Jazz Festival

Presented by Eau Claire Jazz and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire the 44th Annual Eau Claire Jazz Festival will be April 7th-10th. Included in this year's line up will be Eric Marienthal, Bobby Sanabria, The Hornheads and the Air Force Band of Mid America.

Pre-Festival activities started Monday with the 3rd Annual Art Crawl that runs through April 29th. Tonight will be the Kick-Off Party from 5:30PM-7PM at RCU Corporate Headquarters. Then each night before the Festival offically begins you can find jazz music playing at venues across Eau Claire.

April 2nd a Free Interactive Children's event "Jump, Jive & Read!" will be held from 10AM–11:30AM at North High School for preschool through 3rd graders.

Time to Boogie!!

The 12th Annual Eau Claire Ragtime Festival will be held January 14th to 16th at the First Congregational Church, 3rd Avenue and Broadway Street in Eau Claire.

Enjoy the sounds of original distinctly American music. Headliners include Bill Edwards, Martin Spitznagel, and Meredith Axelrod and Craig Ventresco. You can also enjoy silent moves with live accompaniment, an educational symposia, delicious food, or take master classes with Bill Edwards!
