Christmas Day Feasts

If you don't want to cook this Christmas Day, you don't need to!

Start out with breakfast at the Altoona VFW Breakfast 9AM to Noon. All you can eat $7/adults and $4/kids. Share your meal with local Veterans!

Around noon time head to Culvers for their Christmas Day Lunch from 11:30AM to 1:30PM. Enjoy chicken, fries, cole slaw, roll, drink and Culver's frozen custard! All are welcome. Suggested donation $5, proceeds go to the Salvation Army and Hope Gospel Mission.

Christmastime in the City

Saturday December 3rd Christmastime in the City begins in Downtown Eau Claire. Be sure to join in the fun.

There will be Lunch with Santa in the Greenbriar Room of the Ramada Inn Convention Center. Cost is is $5/person under 18 months/free; this includes pizza, drink, a visit with Santa, and cookie decorating with the Boys and Girls Club members, crafts hosted by Macaroni Kid, and the Swan Lake Ballet Students will perform.  Bring your cameras!

The L.E. Phillips Public Library will have "Make and Take" crafts from 1PM-4PM

Relax on a free horse drawn wagon ride from 1PM-4PM, starting from the corner of Barstow Street and Grand Avenue, then enjoy hot chocolate, cider from Infinitea, treats from Parkside Pie and Ice Cream, and a fire to warm up with in the Four Corners Parking Lot.

At 4PM the Eau Claire Memorial Madrigals will sing carols around the Christmas tree in the Four Corners Parking Lot.  Following will be a dance by the Swan Lake Ballet at 4:20PM.

And the main event - the Christmas Tree Lighting - will take place at 4:30PM

If Your Not Hunting This Weekend...

Just in case you won't be in the woods this weekend for the opening of Whitetail Deer Gun Season, or maybe if you're taking a break from the cold, here are a few fun thing to do in Eau Claire.

Down to Earth Garden Center is having Deer Hunters Widow’s Weekend  November 19th and 20th with classes going on all weekend, free Hors d’oeuvres and samples, plus great specials on all Christmas items. 

The Annual Water Street Block Party is November 17th-19th with lots of shopping, food, and fun.

Or head to the Holidaze Arts Festival November 18th and 19th at the Ramada Convention Center. See quality fine art and crafts from over 100 exhibitors  Friday from 3PM to 9PM or Saturday from 9AM to 4PM.

The Art of Woodturning

The Third Annual Wisconsin Woodturners Exposition will bring the best of the area out to show off their skills and raise some money for charity.

This event will be held November 5th 9AM-6PM and November 6th 9AM-5PM at the Plaza Hotel and Suites in Eau Claire. A Silent Auction will be held for supporting the youth outreach and a portion of the proceeds will go to Feed My People.

Enjoy professional demonstrations by Dick Sing, Jamie Donaldson, Jim Anderson, Wade Wendorf, Greg Haugen, Jarrod Stone, Ben Manor and Klaus Zunker. There will be many exhibits and vendors, and a Fiber Arts section.

The denizens of the green dells of Wisconsin are a bit happier these days, at least in Eau Claire (French for “City Of Very Nice, Quiet People Who Will Smile At You”). The L.E.Philips Memorial Library is now lending out iPads for weekly stints, allowing the good, country stock of Eau Claire to enjoy Apple’s finest between two Sundays. They are also available for in-library use.
