The denizens of the green dells of Wisconsin are a bit happier these days, at least in Eau Claire (French for “City Of Very Nice, Quiet People Who Will Smile At You”). The L.E.Philips Memorial Library is now lending out iPads for weekly stints, allowing the good, country stock of Eau Claire to enjoy Apple’s finest between two Sundays. They are also available for in-library use.

Big Band Music

If you enjoy the sounds of Glenn Miller, George Gershwin, Benny Goodman and Count Basie, head to the Grantner Concert Hall at UW-Eau Claire.

Eau Claire's Grammy nominated Jazz I Ensemble and Jazz II Ensemble along with guest performers will be presenting The Big Band Extravaganza Friday September 23rd at 7:30PM and a second performance Tuesday September 27th at 2PM.

12th Annual ClearWater Beer Festival

This Saturday head over to Hobbs Sports Center in Altoona for the ClearWater Beer Festival!

Sample great beers by dozens of brewers from 3PM to 7PM.  Designated drivers get in free.  You must be 21 to attend, so bring your ID.  Tickets are $25.00/advance or $30.00/at the door.  Proceeds benefit the Altoona Rink Improvement Fund.

It's the 29th Annual Festival in the Pines this weekend, August 27th and 28th, at Carson Park in Eau Claire.

This family fun event features shopping, activities, rides and entertainment for all, and benefits several local non profit organizations. Admission is $5, 11 and under are free.

Another Eau Claire Summerfest

You can't have enough fests in a summer!

August 13th and 14th head to St James the Greater Catholic Church in Eau Claire for their Summerfest 2011. Games, Raffles, a Car Show, music and fun, along with a bonfire Saturday night and a Polka Mass Sunday morning.

It's Summerfest this Saturday.

Head to downtown Eau Claire from 10AM to 10PM for family fun in the Kid's Zone, with a petting zoo and bounce house, see the Strong Man competition, a classic car show, performaces by many local performers, Chalkfest, music, crafts and more.
